Aims & Objectives – to promote:
- The Hindi language (oral & written) & pursuant thereto:
- North Indian music, dance, drama and the arts
- academic study of Hindi literature and Hindu religious scriptures.

The Academic Programme:
Syllabus and Examinations
- Initially, set by Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti (RPS) of Wardha in India
- Later, Pundit Nardev wrote text books for local use
- By 1983, >5000 students wrote RPS exams
- In 1984, Sangh launched own syllabus & exams
- By 1997, > 7000 students wrote local exams
- Since 1996, Sanskrit was introduced
- Regular Teachers’ seminars held for continuous improvement
- Change in Text Books 2 years ago to Jharna Series.

- Since 1998, 4 x I month broadcasts achieved
- Since Sept 2002, 4 year licence granted
- >100 volunteers
- 50% Hindi & local content
- Approx 100,000 listenership
- Conversion and 5 year licence in 2008
- Extension to Pmb in Dec 2009
Challenges for the future:
- Synergise efforts of all organisations involved in Hindi education (currently 3 silos)
- Promote conversational Hindi (spoken language)
- Accreditation of Academic Programme
- Overcome financial constraints
- Appeal against community apathy
- Maintain our identity and culture being a minority in SA.
